No Peer to Peer Networking

Movies Capital is interesting because it is one of a few movie sites which allow you to download movies legally. Most sites which advertise movie downloads just provide software for peer to peer (P2P) networking and you then download whatever you like. 

These sites seem to imply that paying them somehow gives you a licence to download whatever is available. But hidden in the terms and conditions there are often statements like "we do not condone the downloading of copyright material" or "paying a fee to us does not imply a licence to download copyright material".  Downloading copyright material is of course the key point of such sites as this is the only way to get the latest movies.

Movies Capital, on the other hand, offers legal movie  downloads, or streams, direct from their servers.   The downloads are in divx format (which many DVD players will play) and instructions are given for writing these in DVD format if required.  The downloads are reasonably fast but don't like being paused.  You can join for a specified number of movie downloads or for two years unlimited downloads.    The site works well and is easy to use.

So what's the catch?  Well basically the content, you won't find any Hollywood blockbusters or mainstream movies here.   The content is "cult" movies and old movies where copyright is not an issue.  However, there are also episodes of the TV show "South Park" and a live TV feature offering 3800+ channels (although only a few of them seemed to work).

Conclusion The idea is good, the site is easy to use – just like any other website -  and it does not involve any software downloads or installation.   The disappointment is the content.  However, if you are interested in movie downloads and the lack of mainstream movies is not a problem for you, it is well worth a look.
